The quietest mobile air conditioners in comparison
The warm summer months can not only be very stressful in terms of temperature, but as soon as air conditioning is in use, it can also be a real pain in the neck. This is because mobile air conditioners are often extremely noisy and thus very rarely pleasant to use. Mobile air conditioners are becoming increasingly popular in the bedrooms of German households, but once there is an air conditioner in the bedroom, it should also be very quiet, so as not to disturb the comfort of sleep at comfortable temperatures.
We present the three quietest mobile air conditioners in this article. We not only look at the volume of the devices, but also compare the functions in our comparison.
These are the winners in the category: Quiet air conditioners:
Place 1
✔️Very quiet: 43 dB
✔️ simple design
✔️for rooms up to 80m³ (31m²)
ca. 499€
Place 2
✔️Very quiet: 50 dB
✔️for rooms up to 80m³ (31m²)
approx. 430€
Why quiet air conditioner?
Often when buying an air conditioner is disregarded that it should be as quiet as possible. During the day, rooms in the apartment sometimes heat up very much. This means that even at night we cannot achieve comfortable sleeping temperatures by simply ventilating. At the same time, a sleeping temperature of 15 – 20 degrees is very important, especially for falling asleep. This is exactly where a quiet air conditioner can be helpful. Optimized fan control and quiet operation ensure that we can continue to fall asleep peacefully.
But a quiet air conditioner is useful not only for a healthy sleep. Also e.g. when working in a home office or office, it can help concentration. Likewise, when watching TV, quiet air conditioners are less disturbing.
Unfortunately, not all air conditioners meet these requirements. Nevertheless, some manufacturers specialize in quiet air conditioners. We have compared 3 quiet air conditioners with very good ratings.
At what point is a mobile air conditioner considered quiet?
Since we as humans find all noises above 60 dB annoying in the long run, the air conditioner of choice should stay below this threshold if possible. But it can even be much quieter. Our test winner even manages 43 dB and is thus comparatively quiet. This volume would then only correspond to a whisper and is barely audible at the appropriate distance from the bed or workplace. In this comparison, we will look only at the mobile air conditioners. Split air conditioners are even quieter. However, these are also quite inflexible and only suitable for homeowners. The installation of these devices requires some structural measures.
How much money should I spend?
Of course, this question cannot be answered in a blanket manner. In general, however, the more budget available, the higher the quality of the air conditioning system. However, a solid device can also be found for little money. In comparison, we have several options. The positive thing is that none of the devices costs over 500€.
The best list
Our research has produced the following three systems as the best combination of volume and feature set. Although these are not the only quiet air conditioners, these devices have been particularly distinguished by an attractive overall package. Furthermore, all of the devices listed here have received very good reviews for the most part.
Place 1: Midea Silent Cool 26 Pro
First place goes to the Midea Silent Cool 26 Pro air conditioner. By a wide margin, this mobile air conditioner is particularly quiet compared to the comparison models. The Midea hums along at just 43 decibels, which is as loud as a whisper. Of course, this is especially useful when you want to keep your bedroom cool at night or rid a meeting room of warm air without disturbance.
Besides the quiet operating noise of this air conditioner, it can also convince with a simple and sleek design. It can cool down rooms up to 80m³ without any problems. With an average ceiling height of approx. 2.60m, this corresponds to a room size of 31m². On Amazon, this air conditioner impresses with very good ratings of currently 4.3 stars.
From our side, a clear recommendation for all those who are looking for a whisper-quiet, mobile air conditioner.
Place 2: De’Longhi Pinguino PAC N82 Eco
Second place goes to the De’Longhi Pinguino PAC N82 Eco with a volume of 50 decibels. Thus, it is only slightly louder than number one. Since this air conditioner is priced about the same as our number one, we would rank it #1 in any case.
The two air conditioners also score quite similarly in terms of performance, and the De’Longhi doesn’t offer any major advantages over the first place otherwise. The performance is identical here with 2600 watts, and rooms up to 80m³ can be reliably cooled here as well. A marginal advantage could be noted here in the size. The De’Longhi is a few centimeters smaller than 1st place.
3rd place: AEG Chillflex Pro Silence
The AEG Chillflex Pro Silence air conditioner ranks third in our best list. It is still relatively quiet compared to other devices, but at 61 decibels it is already almost 20 decibels louder than the Midea. 61 decibels is roughly equivalent to a loud conversation between two people.
AEG’s mobile air conditioner can still convince with a sleek design and with similarly good reviews from the Internet community, like the first two places. However, our third place is also the largest and heaviest unit. In addition, the AEG is also currently the most expensive device. Accordingly, it does not make sense from our point of view to opt for 3rd place, unless you prefer an AEG brand device and particularly classy design.
Conclusion
Our comparison test shows quite clearly that there is a clear choice in this case if you value a quiet air conditioner. The Midea Silent Cool 26 Pro wins by a wide margin, ahead of the De’Longhi and the AEG air conditioner. Rank 2 and 3 only make sense from our point of view if you are committed to the two brands or prefer a certain design.
